Richard Bailey - Founder & Managing Director
Richard founded the company in 1999 in response to a high level of market demand for quality IT Consultancy.
With over 16 years IT experience he is a qualified MCSE and has worked at all levels in the IT service industry. Prior to starting Scorpio he was working for a major industry partner with customers such as Logica, HP, IBM and Fujitsu. His role progressed from being the key and only Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 consultant through to managing the Microsoft Professional Services department. This department was responsible for the delivery of Microsoft and Novell services to their partners and was grown from 3 people to 25 over the course of 3 years. Richard was responsible for the day to day running of the engineers and also attended site to deliver high end technical consultancy.
As a result of these significant successes Scorpio Network Solutions formed several strategic partnerships with industry leaders including Symantec. Microsoft and IBM and developed as a reseller of leading edge software solutions.
Recent key projects that Richard has delivered include a 700 machine user desktop rollout to Prudential Portfolio Managers, a 2000 machine desktop deployment for Vickers Nuclear Submarine Base and a 3500 user Window NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 Active Directory migration for a core UK Central Government agency.
David Birbeck – Senior Consultant & Technical Services Manager
David has over 18 years experience in delivering information technology solutions to the commercial and public sectors. David has a wealth of experience in Windows infrastructure design along with leading desktop deployment and management solutions from vendors such as Microsoft, HP, Altiris and Symantec.
David has been employed as a technical design authority on a number of high profile government projects, including infrastructure design projects, large scale migrations and desktop refresh projects for Rural Payments Agency, British Cattle Movement Services and Highways Agency. In addition to these, David has been the technical lead on numerous infrastructure management projects for clients including Audit Commission, MoD, Office for National Statistics and National Audit Office.
In earlier life, David worked for The Innovation Group, a leading solution provider to the global insurance industry, developing flexible combination of specialized business process outsourcing, supply chain management and technology solutions.
David is Microsoft certified with MCSE(NT4), MCSE(2000)+Exchange and MCSE (2003)+Security, with additional certifications including Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Altiris and Citrix.
David has been with Scorpio since 2001.
Peter Cant – Senior Consultant & Business Development Manager
Peter Cant has over 25 years experience in IT, starting as a programmer before switching to product marketing, eventually to specialise in Information Systems Security. Peter is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), certified Prince2 project manager, has passed Symantec exams in Backup Exec and Enterprise Vault and has a wealth of experience in Windows Infrastructure management.
As storage Product Manager for Memorex-Telex Ltd, Peter was responsible for the development and marketing of the company’s backup and recovery product range for IBM mid-range systems. This included System/36, System/38 and AS/400. The products were a combination of tape drive hardware and backup scheduling and management software.
In 1990, Peter was appointed Vice President (Europe) of Quarterdeck Systems – later to become Fathom Technologies Inc. Here he was responsible for managing the company’s tape drive, optical disk and Disaster Recovery Software products throughout Europe, Scandinavia and the Middle East.
Subsequently, Peter went on to successfully develop a business providing Backup and security products and services to Microsoft network users - winning contracts with (amongst others) Epson, Ricoh, Toyota and The Post Office.
Peter has been working with Scorpio since the company began in 1999.
